Paul Corfield - Sun Setting Over The Meadows
The inspiration for Sun Setting Over The Meadows were some smaller studies that I’d been working on in the weeks building up to the painting. I had been experimenting with some homemade tools to create the flowers with predictable results in the small studies and then seeing if that could be transferred over to the much bigger paintings. Often I find that I can come up with things that work well in the immediacy of creating a smaller study, where everything moves at a rapid pace, but often this can all be lost in translation with the bigger painting. With this painting my methods allowed me to capture a lot of what the study had and that I liked, yet still keep this in the much slower pace of the large paintings.
